Jun 8, 2008 - I admit that I am sometimes reminded of Diru when I hear GazettE songs, or watch their lives on video; however, it is mostly because Kyo is so extreme, that he is memorable for immersing himself deeply in his music. Ruki is also greatly involved with his music; he is passionate as hell. I think that might be why we compare the two bands. Ultimately though, I believe their music is completely different and unique. I don't think rabid, angry fandom would be appreciated much by either band.

Dir en Grey may've set the standard for extreme visual kei performances, but that doesn't mean that every band that execute such performances are just imitating Dir en Grey. It may have been inspired by Diru, or Diru's style was just popularized; however, the technique has now spread in different directions.
