KICKERMAN360 Says:
Jul 21, 2008 - OO Defrag 10 is faster (than standard windows) and does the this feature, it really takes the chore out of Defrag-ing, easiest if you start your PC then walk away and eat, shower, watch TV etc

Jul 23, 2008 - *****Some Guy told me to FIRST turn my VirtualMemory off THEN put my computer in Safemode NEXT run CHKDSK then after that go and put my VM at 640min 640max THEN restart back in normal mode....Now i cant even say if it worked or not but what if anything would that do for a computer????

Jul 25, 2008 - Auslogics is great. Too bad my free trial ended :(

Aug 11, 2008 - smartdefrag is better and faster
omegareport Says:
Aug 25, 2008 - Turning Virtual Memory off speeds up the computer. Safemode does the same by disabling certain tasks. CHKDSK fixes any errors that might mess up the defrag process (like combining corrupted pieces and making one bigger corrupted piece). VM sets Virtual Memory at a set figure (no minimum or maximum) but I don't know why you'd need to do this if you first turned it off.

Aug 27, 2008 - I downloaded the JKdefrag and ran it yesterday. I even let it run all night. 24 hours later, it was still running. LOL, is this normal?? Granted, the drive I was defragging is 80G and probably hasn't been properly defragged in a long time. The drive is almost completely full. But should it take that long?
jimmyrcom Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - if you got p2p or other downloading going on it will do it infinitely.
scutterbear Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - No, I didnt have anything else running. I shut down everything else. I wasn't downloading anything. It said it was at 100% at 4am this morning. I checked it at 10am and same thing and it was still running. I am not a computer expert by any means. Pretty much a novice. So I was just wondering if I should have left it running. I dont really know how to tell if it completely did the job.
jimmyrcom Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - every time it reruns it scans the disk to see if there's any optimizations it can make. you probably just caught it rescanning

Aug 27, 2008 - Ahh, ok. Thank you. I just subbed to your channel recently and am really enjoying your tutorials. And thank you for taking the time to answer my comment. Most channel owners dont do that, so it's an added plus and gives me more respect for you. Thanks again friend.

Sep 9, 2008 - Jimmy's tutorials are the best! My laptop is running so much faster now, after a couple weeks of constantly defragging on idle (it has a huge HD) I would love to see some linux tutorials on the channel.
Piratesteves Says:
Sep 17, 2008 - Hey, I was wondering when I put that screensaver in my c:\windows , how can I tell its defragmenting when im idle? So far I haven't really seen any thing that shows it doing something.
ttk1opc Says:
Sep 18, 2008 - fragmenting should never occur, its a microsoft thing, GNU/linux will not fragment in the first place.
calrogman Says:
Sep 20, 2008 - It will, it just defrags on the fly, all the time, if necassary.
StormFlip Says:
Oct 6, 2008 - "And i can set the settings....oh i guess it doesn't have settings, but i can set a wait time" funny
LegendKillerO2Jammer Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Hmm..There's also free IOBit Defragmenter, can do defragment while idle too..But based on my experience, it's doesn't defrag while idle lol! (WARNING: IOBit is BETA!)

Oct 14, 2008 - Jimmy, is there any advantage or disadvantage to defragging in DOS mode as opposed to Windows?
