Nov 17, 2008 - what was the "only mistake?" i didn't catch it...
JSTS08 Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - The mistake that is being talked about happened after the canter half-pass into pirouette. The horse was suppose to begin 1 time tempis (flying change every stride). It is visible in the second and third stride out of the pirouette. I hope that helps. This is a beautiful ride and near perfect performance and demonstrates beautifully the difficulty in perfecting harmony.

wolwolery Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Many years ago one of my riding instructors told me that when you hold the reins, you must hold them as if you are also holding a baby bird in each hand... that is how gently you must treat the horse's mouth.
wolwolery Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - My last comment was a reply to waypoint36' comments from 4 days ago, sorry, I just sent it generally. Actually, regarding those comments and cowgirl22hannah's, a droop in the rein might(not always!)mean the horse has been over-bitted and/or rolkurred. A happy horse actively seeks contact with the bit, as it trusts the rider's hands will support a flow of energy and direction. Sometimes the weight of the reins alone suffice for contact, and no more action is required from the rider's hands.

yaangonator Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - Riding is NOT gay. I do western trail/pleasure with jumping on the side. This is an Amazing dressage show. Her leg motion is great! My horse isn't fit for dressage so im probably going to need to switch horses up in the next few years but this was just amazing!

Nov 20, 2008 - beautiful horse, but the tail is too frisky in my opinion. and yes i know what im talking about.
1sketchie2sketchie Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - that's absolutely correct.. too bad most people misuse a double bridle COMPLETELY..

Nov 20, 2008 - To 1sketchie2.... There is no misuse of the bridle in this test and this mare has never been trained using rollkur, if that's what you are implying. As for the tail, it's her personality trait.
1sketchie2sketchie Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - please read what i wrote before you try and make me look dumb. MOST PEOPLE. i never said anything about this test.. i was agreeing you that you have to be super gentle with a horses mouth, but that people, who have no idea that the leverage in a double bridle can snap a horses jaw, misuse it. ive seen it dozens of times. thats all im saying. as for the tail, it might be a "personality" trait but it suggests tension, ask any judge.
1sketchie2sketchie Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - and with dozens of times, i dont mean a jaw snapping, i just mean seeing it misused. just to clarify
kken1229 Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - 1sketchie2sketchie: dressage judges are probably NOT the right ones to ask about anything, given the recent brouhaha about unfair judging at the Olympics as well as other top shows. Re the tail: you have to look at everything. Her ears are relaxed and floppy, and at the walk, she is very relaxed as well. The foaming at the mouth shows her acceptance of the bit. She is a happy dancer.
